Links, links and more links...

Have you seen Cindy Wimmer's new book  "The Missing Link"?  If you like using wire and making links, you will love her book.  There are so many links to choose from and they are even labeled according to difficulty. Here are a few that I tried.

"Loopty Loop" link-labeled as easy for difficulty
I used 16 gauge copper wire to make this link and love the
way it compliments the necklace

"Birthday Bow" link-labeled as moderate for difficulty
This link used 16 and 18 gauge wire-I did mine in bronze.
A little more difficult to make.
You know the old saying, "you have to hold your mouth just right".
The link adds to the romantic, vintage feel of the necklace.

 And one more...
"Double Infinity" link-labeled as more challenging for level of difficulty
My link is made using 18 gauge bronze wire.  I found this link to be easy.

Still many more links to try-30 included in the book.
I am always on the lookout for new links...
Have you made any new ones lately?

More Jewelry Pictures

The focal of this necklace started with a vintage man's watch that I removed the insides from. I glued a snippet of a song from a 1920's songbook to the inside and added a few rhinestones before closing it.
What do you do with a blue bird feather?  Well, I enclosed it between two pieces of glass, foiled and soldered it and made a treasure necklace.

The corkscrew link is made from 16 gauge bronze wire.  I saw the link in Handcrafted Wire Findings by Denise Peck and Jane Dickerson and knew I wanted to try it.  I will definitely make more.
The circle is a copper washer that I stamped with molten solder.

This is what I've been up to lately

I have been working like crazy making jewelry for two upcoming shows.  I can't say that when I am rushed that I feel very creative.  I want to make pieces when I feel inspired by something.  Creating jewelry is relaxing and fun to me-I don't want it to become a chore.

So much for that-this is some of what I've been up too...

My First Time!

As part of my New Year's resolutions, I said I wanted to do things I had never done before.    A couple of weeks ago I had my chance and took it!

My husband and I were in Myrtle Beach for the week end and everywhere I looked there were advertisements for helicopter rides over the beach.   This was something I had not done and was definitely interested in doing.  It was a fun ride and the view was fantastic!
Before the ride
Views of the coastline and Atlantic Ocean from the air

Would I do it again?  You betcha!!
