Bead Hoarders Blog Hop

Today is reveal day for the Bead Hoarders Blog Hop...

When I first heard about the Hop, I was anxious to join in.  I have lots of beads but can't really say that I hoard beads...well I do have a few that are special..not because of their monetary value but because they were given to me by my close friend, Ginny.  You would have thought that Ginny and I would have been unlikely to become best friends.  But I believe things happen for a reason-and that Ginny and I were suppose to be in a class at the same time and find that we are kindred spirits and have so many things in common. Anyway that was over 2 1/2 years ago and I am so thankful for her friendship.

These were some of the beads Ginny shared with me....they were from a vintage necklace and I just hadn't figured out how I wanted to use them until now.

Although I only used two of the beads in this necklace, I think they do the necklace proud and show themselves off to their best advantage.  The wire bead and leaf focal was inspired by the resined leaves of Shannon LeVart in the Winter 2010 Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine.

Although these aren't beads, they are links from a vintage necklace that I have been saving for what...I don't know...maybe a rainy day, which we have had a lot of recently.  Each link has a definite curve.  I don't know what they are made of-I've looked up how to tell plastic, celluloid and Bakelite apart and still don't know what they are.

I used one of Ginny's beads and two of the links to create this bracelet. I liked it so much that I planned to keep it if it didn't sell.  You guessed it-it sold and I missed out.

Lori Anderson did it again!  A great idea was born with her Bead Hoarders Blog Hop.

  1. Very nice work. I love the necklace, have not had the patience to do anything that complex in weeks (since the heat wave hit!) The bracelet links are probably ivory or bone. I have some myself that I picked up at a yard sale.
